On Thursday 15 January, a group of our Year 10 students were fortunate to attend the Salters’ Institutes Festival of Chemistry,hosted at the University of Southampton. During the day,students listened to a range of inspirational talks fromprofessionals working in the chemical industry before taking partin hands-on laboratory work in the University’s teaching labs,where they synthesised aspirin. The experience helped studentsto develop their practical laboratory skills while gaining a deeperunderstanding of industrial chemistry and its real-world applications.
