Our latest news and events give you an insight into life at school.
At the end of June, our Year 10 Music students completed the live performance component of their BTEC Performing Arts qualification.
Throughout the year, students have developed their own musicianship while researching their chosen artists and applying a range of rehearsal techniques to refine their performances and make sustained progress. On the day, performances spanned a variety of genres, from heavy metal to country, with students expressing their individuality through both their music and their stage outfits.
Despite the pressure of a formal assessment, every student excelled and should be immensely proud of their achievements. Just as importantly, they supported one another throughout what can be a challenging experience. Their determination, perseverance and dedication over many months were evident in every performance,making them fantastic role models for the younger aspiring musicians at Lift New Forest.
Next year, students will complete two further units focusing on music composition and the wider performing arts industry. They will learn how to compose original music in response to a set brief, while also planning and pitching their own live event. Alongside this, they will explore the many careers within the music industry, including the roles of tour managers, record labels and event promoters.Students will also develop their understanding of self-promotion and marketing, giving them valuable insight into the wide range of opportunities available within the industry.
A huge thank you goes to Chris Lund and his team at Unique Events for providing the production support and ensuring the day ran so smoothly. We would also like to thank Miss Hall and Mr Dye for supporting the students throughout their performances and capturing the fantastic photographs that showcase the incredible talent we are so fortunate to have at Lift New Forest.
