It has been another busy and exciting time for the PE department at Lift New Forest, with pupils achieving fantastic success both in school competitions and in the wider sporting community.
A huge congratulations to Year 9 pupils Alfie W and Jay C, who are key members of the Southampton School Boys Under 14s football squad. They have played an important role in the team’s success this season, and we are delighted to share that the squad has reached the National Final in May, which will be played on the iconic pitch at Stoke City F.C. This is a tremendous achievement and a fantastic opportunity for them to represent their area at the highest level of schools’ football. We wish them the very best of luck!
We were also proud to host two New Forest primary school tournaments here at Lift New Forest. The Year 5 & 6 New Forest Netball Tournament was supported by eight of our young leaders, who stepped up to umpire the matches. They showed fantastic confidence, leadership and professionalism throughout the event.
Shortly afterwards, we welcomed local schools for the Year 5 & 6 New Forest Badminton Tournament. This event was officiated by 14 of our young leaders from Years 8 and 9, who did an outstanding job managing the competition and supporting the younger players.
Our school football teams have also enjoyed some brilliant results recently. The U16 Girls Football Team produced an impressive 4–0 away win against Burgate. Goals came from Leona (2), Scarlett K (1) and Eleanor M (1) in a dominant performance. The U14 Girls Team were involved in three exciting matches, narrowly losing 4–3 to Ringwood, with Lilly P scoring twice and Ellie M adding another goal, before battling to a 4–4 draw with Priestlands away in another high-scoring encounter and a 0-0 draw with Priestlands at home. The U15 boys had an impressive 4-3 win against Ballard at home.
Netball club has also been thriving, with excellent attendance and enthusiasm from pupils. It has been fantastic to see so many students involved as we begin preparing for our fixtures next season.
Looking ahead, we are excited for the Athletics season, which begins after Easter. Athletics Club will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school, and pupils attending these sessions will be considered for selection to represent the school at the New Forest Championships, which are scheduled to take place on Tuesday 19th May.
We are also looking forward to the cricket season, with cricket training starting on Mondays after school following the Easter break.
Well done to all pupils involved in sport this term – we look forward to another exciting season ahead!
