Anti-Bullying week
November 14, 2025

It’s Anti-Bullying Week! This year, it takes place from Monday 10th until Friday 14th November.

Anti-Bullying Week is a yearly event organised by the Anti-Bullying Alliance that raises awareness for bullying, and the ways in which we can all help to reduce bullying in our schools and communities.

For this year's Anti-Bullying Week theme, Power for Good, we focus on the importance of using power responsibly. The definition of bullying involves a power imbalance, where one person uses their power to control or harm another. It’s essential to help students understand that where we may have power and/or influence, we have a choice and a responsibility to use that positively, encouraging kindness, support, and standing up for others. It’s important to teach students that power needs to be used carefully. Power should never be used to dominate, control, coerce or manipulate others. By equipping students with the skills to recognise power dynamics and encourage respect for each other's rights, we can foster an environment where everyone feels they belong, are safe and valued.

During this awareness week students and staff were encouraged to wear Odd Socks on Tuesday. Why Odd Socks? It is a national initiative that promotes celebrating individuality and raises awareness about bullying. To participate, people wear mismatched or "odd" socks to celebrate what makes them unique and to stand up against bullying in a fun and inclusive way.

During our Safe Space sessions throughout the week students looked at what bullying is, the different types of bullying, the impacts of bullying and how to use Power for Good. We reinforced how students can report bullying and signposted further support if needed.

Miss Shameti and our Anti-Bullying Ambassadors recorded a very powerful poem which was shared during the week and on Friday students were encouraged to colour and design their own ‘odd socks’ to form part of a display.
